Meet Giancarlo Pedote and his yacht
Giancarlo Pedote is an atypical sailor: he graduated in Philosophy from the University of Florence and has a very methodical approach to sailing.
Together, Prysmian and Giancarlo have achieved important victories. Participating in over 30 races in the past 17 years, crossing oceans and circumnavigating the globe, each journey has been a testament to their unwavering commitment to adventure and excellence.
For their latest adventure crossing the North Atlantic, Giancarlo and Prysmian installed PRY-CAM technology on the boat to capture data to help safeguard the oceans.
Solo sailing means experiencing the full spectrum of emotions - joy and sadness, pleasure and suffering, tension and calm. But also being ready to go through solitude and self-reflection.

The next challenge for Prysmian and Giancarlo will be the Vendée Globe 2024, an around-the-world, solo, 80 days journey crossing the three great Capes of the Southern Hemisphere.

Just as sailing requires constant effort to work with the elements of nature, Prysmian is constantly driving to advance the transition to renewable energy across the globe. We share Giancarlo's dedication to partnering with nature to overcome obstacles.
1. Shared ambition
Prysmian has supported skipper Giancarlo Pedote for more than 15 years. His arrival in New York will qualify him for the most challenging race in sailing this fall—a non-stop journey to circumnavigate the globe.
2. A 3,000-mile journey
Giancarlo will cross the North Atlantic Ocean against prevailing headwinds as a competitor in the Transat CIC, the oldest of the singlehanded races. Pushing the limits of the boat and himself, the sailor will seek to finish in under 10 days.
3. Revolutionary sensing technology
Prysmian's patented PRY-CAM monitoring system tracks ocean data like ambient CO2 concentration, water temperature, irradiation and many more. Findings will be shared with the scientific community to further drive sustainable innovation.
4. State-of-the-art boat
Giancarlo is at the helm of one of the most high-performance boats of its generation. The 60-foot carbon fiber racing yacht lifts out of the water on foils and can reach speeds of 30 knots. The boat represents more than just the sport of sailing; it is the shared commitment of Prysmian and Giancarlo: one of a sustainable future powered by nature.
